Damon's 10th Birthday

In our house 10 is a BIG birthday, you go form one number to two! In Damon's case he wasn't espected to make it through the night when he was 8 weeks old (which was his due date June 1st).

Damon on his due date in the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) Those lights must have been bright!

For their 10th birthday they get a party at home and can have 3 friends sleep over. I think the friends sleeping over is the part Damon was most excited about!

Damon is Hawthorn obsessed!!! He lives and breathes Hawthorn, all year round. So I thought it only fitting that his party be Hawks themed!!

He is invited 3 school friends, only 2 could make it and only 1 of those 2 could sleep over so we decided that they could camp out in the backyard which just made Damon even more happy with his party.

Damon told me it was the BEST BIRTHDAY EVER! so that's pretty exciting for me!!

Happy Birthday Damon, I'm so glad your loved your party! Love you to the moon and back!

Endless Sport!!!!

Being the mother of 3 VERY active boys means that summer sports overlaps winter sports!!!

I was very much looking forward to a month of free weekends before the winter sports season kicked in but this weekend I got a very rude awakening.

My biggest baby made an U12's federation soccer team, they officially started their season today!!!! Little athletics finished today with my middle baby at Northern Improvers Day and my littlest baby with his last home meet for the season!

Footy doesn't start until May, although they start training in April, so I thought I at least had 2 weeks! But no!!!! Tate had his first official soccer game today, which I love but I was looking forward to some free time!

Next weekend my middle son is going to Santos Stadium to compete in Individual Championships in the 1100m Walk! Which he is both nervous and excited about!

To make my weekends even more interesting in winter all 3 boys games, whether it's footy or soccer, are all on Sunday's!!!! Fun times ahead!!!!!

Do your kids sports take over your weekend????

Children & Grief

When my Dido died I thought I knew how each of my boys would handle it.

Tate is like me, he keeps everything bottled up inside not really showing much emotion until it all gets too much and he looses it completely.

Damon lets it out as he feels it, doesn't hide it and finds it easy to talk about things and gets frustrated with Tate and I when we don't.

Ethan on the other hand is a little bit of both boys.

Each of the boys have had thier moments in the last few months and are each still dealing with their grief and I am doing me best to help and support them in anyway I can.

Ethan said the sweetest thing a few weeks ago and I am finding that he has the most questions about it all still. He believes that Dido is in heaven with Tiger (our dog) and Aunty Kerry (my sister) and that Dido is in charge of the rain. So when it rains and he doesn't want it to, he looks up and says "OH come on Dido".

I will often find the boys talking about Dido, which normally ends up with one or all of us in tears.

Ethan asked me the other when his heart will stop hurting, which just broke my heart.

It is getting easier and I think the more we talk and about Dido and remember him the less our hearts will hurt. At least I hope so anyway!

Friday Favourites - Damon's Favourite TV shows

This weeks post is a week late!!! Damon went off to his Dad's house last friday from school and I realised that I hadn't asked him about his favourites, so here it is:

This is Damon
He was born at 32 weeks and is anything but your typical premmie baby!!! Yes he had health issues early on but after he turned 3 months old he has been amazing health wise. He has some learning difficulties that we are helping him with and managing but otherwise he is your typical football obsessed 9 year old!!!!
* Damon's favourite colour is Blue
* He is obseesed with Hawthorn football club
*His favourite players is Buddy Franklin
* He wears number 12 when he plays footy

I asked Damon to give me a list of his 5 favourite TV shows, so here they are:

The Voice

The Block

The Simpsons

Australia's Got Talent

The Big Bang Theory

Tate and I decided that Damon has an obssesion with reality TV and also show that start with THE!

Next week it's little Ethan's turn he is telling us about his favourite Movies and his answers will definately surprise you!!!

See you then!!!!

Friday Favourites - School Holiday Activities

Welcome to the 1st Friday Favourites post!!! I am a little bit excited!! If you have any ideas for subjects for friday favourites  would LOVE to hear them or feel free to join in the on your own blog just make sure you send everyone back here for a look!!

Today topic is SCHOOL HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES:

MT LOFTY BOTANIC GARDENS is in the Adelaide Hills, I took the boys up there to use up some of thier energy. We walked up and there was a bit of sooking but they really enjoyed the way back down through the gardens looking at all the trees and plants.
We stopped and tried to fly thier kites but I have no idea how to get them to fly so that was a bit of a flop.

SEMAPHORE BEACH was a great day out, there was a small carnival happenng so the kids all went on a ride and them we had some lunch and went down to the water where the kids played chasy and played under the jetty, as it was a little bit too cold to go in the water.

MOVIE DAY is always a great way to spend a day and lots of fun with popcorn and chips.

ST KILDA ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND is a huge playground with lots of slides and tunnels, mazes and fun things to do to keep the kids entertained for hours!!!

WATER WORLD has re opened in Adelaide in Tea Tree Gully, lots of fun on hot days.

I would love to hear your school holiday ideas. Next Fridays topic is Kids Photos
