Marathon Monday

I survived my the first week!

Which sounds easy BUT it's week 2 of school holidays here in Adelaide and also the week my older 2 boys are off at their dads. So I have Ethan home with me all alone and that makes it a touch harder to keep him occupied while I run.

And it's been raining! Now I love running in the rain but Ethan doesn't love sitting in the rain watching me run!!

Thank goodness for my mum and her treadmill!!!

I have done my 3 week day runs on my mum's treadmill so that Ethan can watch telly while I run!

Jumping from 4.8km to 9.6km was as hard as it sounded! But I guess I better get used to it as it's only gonna get harder!!! Bring it on I say!!

I feel really good about this week and am still riding high on the excitement of it all.

WEEK 1 RESULTS
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: 4.8km - Ran 5km
Wednesday: 4.8km - Ran 5km
Thursday: 4.8km - Ran 5km
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Cross Train - 20 min Stairs climb
Sunday: 9.6km - Ran 10km
Total: 24km - Ran 25km

WEEK 2
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: 4.8km
Wednesday: 4.8km
Thursday: 4.8km
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Cross Train
Sunday: 11.2km
Total: 25.6km

One thing that did bother me was the "not quite whole kilometres", I can't wrap my head around the running 4.8km instead of 5km, so I think I will be rounded them up to the closest half kilometre.

The return of Marathon Monday!!!!

I am VERY excited to report that I am over my injury and Marathon Monday officially resumes today!

So here goes:

WEEK 1
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: 4.8km
Wednesday 4.8km
Thursday: 4.8km
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Cross Train
Sunday: 9.6km
Total: 24km

I am not sure what the cross training will be each week but it will probably be changed up with Fartlek and Interval training and some Mt Lofty runs or walks.

I also went to Rebel sports on the weekend and had a chat with one of thier helpful staff and now have this fabulous drink to give me a little help! Hopefully the extra magnesium will help my cramp prone legs!

So the official date of the Marathon is Sunday August 25th! Sounds so far but really isn't!!!

Wish me luck, hopefully this time around I can stay injury free and make it to the finish line!!!!

I am linking up with Running Bloggers for the very first time.
I am hoping i have done my link up properly!!! (If not please let me know!)

Damon's 10th Birthday

In our house 10 is a BIG birthday, you go form one number to two! In Damon's case he wasn't espected to make it through the night when he was 8 weeks old (which was his due date June 1st).

Damon on his due date in the PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) Those lights must have been bright!

For their 10th birthday they get a party at home and can have 3 friends sleep over. I think the friends sleeping over is the part Damon was most excited about!

Damon is Hawthorn obsessed!!! He lives and breathes Hawthorn, all year round. So I thought it only fitting that his party be Hawks themed!!

He is invited 3 school friends, only 2 could make it and only 1 of those 2 could sleep over so we decided that they could camp out in the backyard which just made Damon even more happy with his party.

Damon told me it was the BEST BIRTHDAY EVER! so that's pretty exciting for me!!

Happy Birthday Damon, I'm so glad your loved your party! Love you to the moon and back!

Granma's 80th Party

You might remember last week that I mentioned my granma was turning 80!

My dad bought my little brothers over from New Zealand to surprise everyone! And that they did!!! It's was great!!!

We went out for dinner to the British Workman's Club because my granma loves dancing!!! We had dinner and danced and had a ball.

One of my cousins organised a photo booth so we all had a bit of fun with that and there was a quiz about Granma. I came 2nd but only cause I stole the answers I didn't know from my Uncle, who won! Oh well it was lots of fun! And surprisingly I knew quite a lots of the answers!!

I made my granma's birthday cake which was a bit of a hit!

It was a fun night had by all, especially Granma!!!

Hello April!!

I can't believe that it's already April!!! Where has the first quarter of the year gone??

This month has quite a couple of milestone birthday's for my family!

Tomorrow is my granma's, (no I didn't spell it wrong, she is scottish and when she says Grandma it sounds like Granma, so that's what we all call her!) 80th birthday!! 80! That's huge right?!?!

She lost her husband, my granddad, 22 years ago. She has 4 children, 7 grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren and counting.

She still goes ballroom dancing a few times a week and likes keeping active, she's not big sitting around. She doesn't drive anymore so she either walks or catches the bus.

She is having her birthday dinner at her favourite dinner dance on Saturday night with just her family. So I guess I'll be dancing on dad's feet again!!

I am in the process of making her 80th birthday cake, I will be sure to post pictures next week.

HAPPY 80TH BIRTHDAY GRANMA!!

The other milestone birthday we have this month is my middle son's 10th birthday!! I am still struggling to believe he is almost 10!!! He was born at 32 weeks and was so sick for the first few months I never thought he would get here!

Next Friday night we are having a party for him at home. He is having 3 of his best friends sleep over, so it's going to be noisy!!!! He doesn't know it yet but his party has a theme and it's going to be a Hawthorm party, think yellow and brown! I know, why couldn't he go for a club with nicer colours?!?! I asked the same question.

So right now I am in my element party planning and baking my little heart out!! FUN!!

I will do a full post about his party sometime in the holidays (His party also happens to fall on the last day of Term 1)

Headlice SUCK!!!!!!

With the beginning of the school year comes the dreaded Head lice "season".

My children seem to get headlice every time its going around school. I have a pretty goo headlice routine around here now.

Moov Head Lice together with Moov ambassador Nicole Livingstone, former Olympic swimmer and mum of 3, are trying to help reduce the stigma attached to having headlice, dispel the myths and get people talking about it, instead of shying away from the subject.

Over 1000 mums (of 4-12yr olds) were surveyedand 57% of these mums admited that they were uncomfortable talking about thier childrens head lice with anyone, including the schools and other parents.

I have to admit that until recently I was one of those mums.

The same survey showed that 72% of mums struggled to break the headlice cycle and felt thier school had a chronic head lice problem and that 48% of parents don't tell thier school when their child has head lice.

The Moov Head Lice Survey focuses on the psychological effects of diagnosis on children and parents, rather than prevention and treatment. Using the information gathered in the survey Moov Head Lice is runningan education program called "Defend your class". You can find out more over at their website, HERE
